Tech Troubles?

Just visit this well-known comic for a laugh...

Then unplug it...Just kidding.

After you check out the comic chalk up your tech issues to the fact that I think your computer went home early...

It is Friday, after all.

Enjoy your weekend!

Cannon Ball Run or Geocaching Anyone?

In the early 80’s Burt Reynolds starred in a movie called Cannonball Run.

Fast and Funny, this movie was very popular. The object of the game was to race the streets in fast cars; the first one to the end (and solving the clues) won a pot of money.

The movie was so popular, in fact, I think some kids from my senior class decided to make up their own Cannonball Run. It was Illegal and I don’t believe it turned out very well.

But, if this type of adventure interests you, there is good news!

You can do it legally!

See World Cannonball Run: http://www.cannonballworld.com/

The U.S. dates for the Cannonball Run Rat Race are set for Sept. 3, 2011 in New York City's Central Park and will end about 3,000 miles away in Southern California on Sept. 9 or 10, 2011.’(Quoted from the site listed below)

The Rat Race ’11
‘Drivers and their machines will roll out of Central Park, New York – 3rd September, 2011. Drivers will be handed Mission Packs along with a key. This key will gain you access to a hidden locker on the West Coast. Mission packs containing clues will navigate drivers across the country. [...]’ (Quoted from the site below)

So if you have a fast car and like scavenger hunts here’s an event for you!
Maybe you could win some money! (Though there is an entry fee - the pot, I’m sure, is huge.)

Now, if you don’t like driving fast but enjoy thinking fast, try Geocaching!
I just learned about this myself and it sounds quite fun. I know somebody who does this every year and they love it!

You can travel anywhere, seeing the sites while using your GPS to search for things people hide.

Check out Geocaching  at: http://www.geocaching.com/

(Also, some Geocachers around the world enjoy doing good for the environment with Cache In Trash Out.)
Check it out here:
http://www.geocaching.com/cito/default.aspx

Either way, these two events tell me that no matter how grown-up we grown-ups are supposed to be, in the end we still like to have fun!

HAPPY FRIDAY TO YOU!

Amber

Swing into Spring

My little man...last year...practicing his Swing
The first day of Spring is Sunday, March 20th, and golfers everywhere will be celebrating!

For the upcoming occasion I have collected some quotes I found from golf movies.
Enjoy!

Truly,
Amber

Bringing Up Baby (1938)
“My dear young lady, I'm not losing my temper. I'm merely trying to play some golf.”
– David Huxley (Cary Grant)

Caddyshack (1980)
[Judge Smails is taking an inordinately long time to hit his drive on the first tee, while Al Czervik waits in the next foursome]
Al Czervik: While we're young.

Happy Gilmore (1996)
Bob Barker: I can't believe you're a professional golfer. I think you should be working at the snack bar.
Bob Barker: This guy sucks.
Happy Gilmore : That guy is driving me crazy.
Bob Barker: You know what’s driving me crazy? You not getting the ball into the hole.

Tin Cup (1996)
Roy McAvoy: When was the last time you took a risk?
Dr. Molly Griswold: Well, I'm with you, Roy. I'm with you.

 Legend of Bagger Vance( 2000)
“There's a perfect shot out there tryin' to find each and every one of us... All we got to do is get ourselves out of its way, to let it choose us... Can't see that flag as some dragon you got to slay... You got to look with soft eyes... See the place where the tides and the seasons and the turnin' of the Earth, all come together... where everything that is, becomes one... You got to seek that place with your soul"

Life Swap

Remember the show Wife Swap?
It was a reality T.V. show which took a wife out of the country and put her in the city, a home school mom went to live with a family who had public schooled children, and a wife who had old fashioned values  was replaced with the bread winning suburban one. It might even still be on T.V. for all I know.
That show probably started with just a few men and women who truly wished they were living other lives, and who longed for the days where they could be someone else, somewhere else.
Where they pictured the grass to be greener and the flowers would smell much better than their own.
Today is Fun Friday and I would like to give you a task; a FUN one of course! You must like to play. If you think that you can hack a little bit of silliness and you feel you’re mature enough to participate, put your answers in the blanks below. Otherwise stop reading and go back to work.
Treat this like the Mad Libs we had as kid’s.
You know, the ones where you had to fill in nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc., and then when you read the story back it’d be the most hilarious thing you, and your friends, had ever heard!!
This time fill in the blanks today with dreams and things you love and then on Saturday morning (or any time after midnight) return to Yellow Inspiration and use your words to fill in the story!

Ice Igloo Hotels

ICE HOTELS:
I’m thinking this has got to be some sort of an oxy moron…
Okay, so we have seen enough snow and ice for one month, maybe even for a few months. But, the good news is, it goes away!
And look on the bright side; at least we don’t have to live IN it!
I mean honestly… I can see going on a trip to Alaska in the snowy months, I can even understand skiers vacationing in the mountains, but at the end of the day, isn’t it just crazy to jump into a bed of ice to relax??? EEESH.
No thanks ;) I like the snow, but this is ridiculous. I could not see this as a vacation…
Carry on, northeastern blizzards.
 I’m going to (warm) bed.

Truly,
Amber
